"Although there are quite a few bakeries, donut shops, and ice cream parlors in San Diego that offer vegan options, Starry Lane Bakery is the only place I’ve found that offers 100% vegan desserts. And, might I add, really good vegan desserts. The great thing about this bakery is that it’s good for anyone who is sensitive to food allergens, since they make all of their desserts without the top 10 most common allergens."
"Born from the minds of two sisters – one with life-threatening food allergies – all of the bakery’s products are Top 10 allergen-free. Starry Lane values the health and safety of their customers, and they achieve that through transparency and delicious food."
"Situated in an unassuming strip mall in Sabre Springs (west of Poway), Nutmeg has racked up its healthy share of local fans. Serving Caffe Calabria coffee, seasonal foods (breakfast, brunch, and lunch), gluten-free and vegan menu items, and sweet delights from its vast pastry case, Nutmeg makes culinary and coffee magic happen in an industrial-like, open space with bar seating, booth areas, and tables situated next to outlets. If you’re looking for an office away from home, Nutmeg is it."

"What is it: Hip seafood house buzzes with blingy, Vegas-worthy interiors and expert cocktails. Why go: Boisterous Little Italy spot might not be the seafood restaurant your grandparents had in mind—shellfish platters range from Big, Bigger to Holy Shit—but groups of stylish youngins keep things humming with Mai Tais and plates of local uni, grilled octopus and buttery lobster rolls. Swing by the marquee bulb-lined bar during the weekday happy hour for $1 oysters and $7 paloma cocktails."
"As much as people make fun of it, we’re suckers for a hipster restaurant in a converted warehouse with a spectacular design. With copper-topped bar and tables, elegantly tiled floor, nautical touches and a piranha wall, every seat in Ironside Fish and Oyster is the best seat. And then there’s the food."
"If you’re in the Pacific Beach area, El Prez is an awesome option for Mexican food and rooftop views. Snack on bites like the bacon-wrapped shrimp, flautas or their famous El Prez guac made with red onions, cilantro, serrano peppers, cheese and pomegranate pearls. They serve traditional cocktails with a Mexican-twist, like the Tijuana mule that features espolon blanco tequila, muddled jalapenos and fresh lime juice."
"Most rooftop bars in San Diego are located in the Gaslamp Quarter or in Little Italy so if you are looking for rooftop bars in other parts of the city your choices are a bit limited. But, El Prez is a good option outside of the downtown area. El Prez is located in Pacific Beach, just a block from the beach."
"One of the most popular spots in Pacific Beach, El Prez has a tremendous rooftop area featuring cozy lounges and spectacular views of the ocean. While it can get crowded at times, it’s the perfect place to unwind for a perfect Saturday evening. Plus, they’re margaritas are amazing."
"With a name like Elizabethan Desserts, you’re going to expect great things from this bakery. You won’t be disappointed because patrons say the pies are the best ever made. However, you don’t want to ignore the cupcakes or delightfully decorated cookies."
"This Encinitas bakery and its sibling bakery Betty’s Pie Whole Salon has a limited menu of cupcakes, cookies, bars plus savory and sweet pies for takeout and curbside delivery. Call ahead to place an order or pay in advance."
