"There are 17 museums in Balboa Park and while they are not all art museums, a few rise above the rest. The sleek building that houses the Timken Museum of Art serves as an excellent foundation for a visit. The collection features masterworks by Rembrandt, perhaps the most well-known portraitist in Western art history, and Jacques-Louis David, the individual who was the most influential on 19th century academic art."

One route will take you to the summit of Cowles Mountain, the highest point in San Diego at 486 metres and with a panorama of San Diego County that merits the climb."
"A hike in Mission Trails Regional Park is one of the best things to do in California. The whole preserve spans more than 7,000 acres, and depending on where you enter, you can see everything from bare, rocky cliffs to green fields bursting with life. "It’s a neighborhood spot rather than a seaside visit, characterized as being incredibly calm and peaceful. This is the type of place you come to stroll after a long work day. It’s also a great spot for children and dogs, so if you have either or both…you’ve struck gold!"
"With tables and chairs, benches and stoops, with a fountain constantly gurgling a serene background noise and the bay just within eyesight, this urban piazza in the heart of Little Italy is just amazing. Enjoy a coffee, a rendezvous or a book while you bask in a sunlit day with a cool bay breeze. This memorial to neighborhood soldiers who died during the Korean War is a beautiful monument to these heroes."
"North Park is rearing to go and The Original 40 Brewing Company couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome back guests for outdoor dining!. There’s no duo more iconic than the location’s juicy OG Burger, piled high with lettuce, red onion, tomato, white cheddar cheese and garlic aioli served with house-cut fries, coupled with one of their house-brewed beers. Get your fill Monday through Thursday from 3PM to 9PM, Friday and Saturday from noon to 10PM, and Sunday from noon to 8PM."
"The brewhouse is open to the taproom but even so, the space feels surprisingly homey (possibly because of the wall of plants). On any given day, there are about 15 of the brewery’s beers on tap plus a handful of guest brews. Particularly nice is the fact that there’s a small wine list, so if someone in your group isn’t a beer lover, they can still have a drink."

After dinner, stroll through the charming neighborhood to reach decadent Extraordinary Desserts. The sugar rush should get you started for a night out in the Gaslamp District club scene; if you prefer something chill, the swanky retro cocktail bar Prohibition Lounge is a great way to finish the night."
"Where to eat: Complete your day with delicious fish tacos in old town (not to be missed!) and cap it all off with a visit to their famous Little Italy for some truly authentic gelato."
