"Kindred may be a vegan spot, but it certainly doesn't pull your average hippie shtick—in fact, it'll probably subvert everything you might have thought about non-meat eaters. For starters, it's loud—heavy metal is blasting—and the decor is punk rock-meets-French gothic, with a few feminine touches. Creative cocktails use funky ingredients ranging from rose water to green chili vodka and cold brew coffee; the $14 Chromostring, to wit, is crafted with three types of rum, coconut, cinnamon dust, charcoal, and various fruit juices."
"If you’re looking for a unique vegan experience in San Diego, don’t miss out on Kindred, an eccentric bar in Golden Hill that features death metal music and a fully vegan menu. Probably the best thing about this place, besides the vegan options, is the decor and overall atmosphere. Think punk, a little edgy, but still classy in its own way."
"What do eclectic cocktail bars, metal tunes, and gastropub culture have in common?. Nothing, at least not until Kindred opened its doors back in 2015. The LED-illuminated ceiling, vibrant pink walls, and retractable garage-door-style window set the stage, but the food and cocktails steal the show at this South Park hotspot."
"The restaurant itself is pretty small and the only thing I don't like about it is that there's only street parking so..."
"Sie müssen kein hartnäckiger Yogi sein, um im True Food Kitchen zu speisen. Alles was Sie brauchen ist der Wunsch, Ihrem Körper Nährstoffe zu geben und Ihrem Gaumen etwas Besonderes. "Our famous chain of fish taco restaurants, Rubio’s, has a rather nice dine-in space here with beer and wine options. Ralph Rubio is a La Jollan. Local kids like the kids’ meal with a folded up quesadilla and churro."
"Such good food that anything you choose on the large menu will leave you happy. Worth it for the portions!"
"What we found: If we had known how nice our meal at Donna Jean would be, we would have come here for a special dinner instead of a casual Monday lunch. From the delicious “California meets Midwest” comfort food on the menu to the most inviting outdoor courtyard where we sat, this place was truly memorable. The menu was fairly simple, offering comfort food classics like handmade pasta, cast iron mac and cheese (apparently named “The best vegan mac and cheese ever” by Huffington Post), pizza, etc."
"Opened in 2017, Donna Jean serves creative vegan comfort foods. Dishes include handmade pastas, entrees such as mac and cheese and risotto, and award-winning pizzas; they’re also open for brunch on Saturday and Sunday. The restaurant was opened by chef Roy Elam in honor of his mother, Donna Jean, who passed away from breast cancer."
"Just north of Banker’s Hill, you’ll find Donna jean — a homey eatery featuring vegan food, kombucha, beer, and a lovely patio and herb garden. 2949 Fifth Ave, San Diego, CA 92103 (6.3 miles away)https://donnajeanrestaurant.com/. View this post on Instagram"
"But it was clear that this gallery used some type of review management platform, as visitors had nothing but nice things to say. And although White Box Contemporary only dated back to 2011, it quickly became one of the best venues in and around the San Diego area. Opened and managed by artist and international art dealer Alexander Salazar, this was the place to be in the region for access to works from top new talent."
"Peter Lik’s photography lines the walls of this ambient gallery. With 35 years of experience, this self-taught Australian photographer has explored the earth's natural beauty from behind the lens. Lik's focus on landscapes is matched by the gallery's prime location two streets from La Jolla Cave, where Pacific waves meet the West Coast."
"Crushed is a bar/restaurant and not a coffee shop but this trendy place in Pacific Beach is a good spot to get some work done and either have a delicious brunch or grab a beer while you finish up for the day. Their mimosas are good too!. Downside: they don’t open until 10am on Tuesdays through Thursdays (8am on other days)."
"If Rudford's had chrome instead of stucco, it would be a genuine diner, because it has the bay windows and mid-century signage. In any case, it's a landmark (and just down the street from the Chicken Pie Shop). Basic comfort fare here, which gets mixed reviews."
"Equally popular with the early bird special crowd and after-bar party goers; both sets agree that the biscuits and gravy and chicken fried steak at this 24-hour diner are first rate."
"Amidst the bars and greasy food in the Gaslamp, Café 21 serves farm-to-table breakfast with a twist. If you’re into drinking your breakfast, there’s a variety of ginormous Bloody Mary's on the menu that could be entire meals themselves, but the omelettes are really where it’s at. They’re baked in cast-iron skillets and full of protein like prosciutto, lamb, short ribs, and beet-cured salmon."
"Located about 1.5 miles away from Qualcomm Stadium, Cafe 21 is a great option for any reason. This extremely popular restaurant is Turkish and if you don't order the baklava... well, let's just say you should."
